Hey, can anyone help me figure out what's wrong with my power chord. I have a powerbook G4 with a messed up battery. I can't leave it unplugged for long cause the battery runs out in less than 5 minutes. Lately, I noticed that when I do plug my powerbook the light around the plug itself (where it connects to the hole of the laptop) doesn't turn on right away and i have to be turning it and twisting till it turns on that sometimes the computer turns off since the battery runs out before the plug works. It was never like this before. Is there something wrong? what do I have to do? help =)

I don't know what might be going on in your case, but I have a 5.5 year-old PB G4 and recently had to replace my power cord. The light on my cord was flickering. In my case, the cord was becoming apart from the part that goes into the computer.

It sounds like the power adapter ("power cord" to me means just the cord that plugs into the wall, not the whole device) has seen a few too many weeks of use and its connector is wearing out. I'd do two things: buy a replacement battery and buy a replacement power adapter. Your PB probably has plenty of life left in it, but you'll need both a new battery and a new charger to be able to use it.

You need a new battery. The power cord issue is also pretty common. Most PB owners will go through several cords in the life span of one PB. Your only option is a new power adapter.

Look on ebay, but steer clear of the cheap chinese imports. They look good but only last a couple of months. Look for a real Apple lead, being sold by a person not an import company.
