A few months ago I tried installing a Zagg invisibleSHEILD on my MacBook Pro. Took me about three hours and I failed miserably. Now I have a mark on my MBP's handrest that looks like residue. I tried dishwashing solution, goo-gone, scraping with my fingernail. Doesn't seem to be doing anything. Any advice?

Have you tried Goo-gone? If it is a residue, goo gone will remove it. I swear that stuff can take paint off of a car...

edit: sorry, didn't see that you had already tried it. The InvisibleShield glue probably seeped into the anodizing on the handrests, which you won't be able to get out.

The surface of aluminum products like MBPs is different than other metals (like silver or brass, for instance) in that the surface oxide is a designed-in very durable aluminum oxide that is not normally "polished" by removing the oxide with a chemical cleaner.
