My nephew has a 13" Macbook which he has filled with movies and other stuff. While copying a movie to the HDD this week, a message appeared saying the HDD was almost full, then said that Finder could not run and then the computer froze.

The computer will boot, but when the login screen appears, he enters his password, the screen goes blue for a short while, then the login screen appears again.

We set up my iMac in target mode and booted his computer off my HDD. We then deleted about 17GB of files from his HDD and shut both computers down. Upon restarting the MacBook, the same problem persists.

Any ideas how to log on to this MacBook?

Thanks,

Grover

Sounds like something got corrupted in the system. Try booting off a MacOS DVD and reset the password. I would try that first.
