Anyways my laptop fell out of my backpack today and took a spill on the street. I booted it up and it seems like it functions right.
Plays a DVD, I can bring up ichat. The display looks like it's been destroyed. Should I just put in a replacement LCD screen. It's a 3 year old macbook. I don't feel like spending the coin for a new computer until snow leopard. Should be a pretty easy fix I think. I've already got the display loose.
Backlight still works. Not sure what that means. I'm hoping this is just a display issue. I don't think my internals were damaged.
Anyways give some advice.

The LCD panel is cracked and needs to be replaced - it happens, especially if it hits a hard surface corner first. Take it to an Applestore and see what kind of quote they give you - this is a reasonably common issue, so they can probably tell you straight up.

The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx

You could also buy the external video adapter for $19 and an external display for $120 and tough it out until you're ready to buy a new laptop...

Well I found some of the macbook 13.3 inch LCDs on the internet for like 100 dollars. I don't really think it's worth paying anyone to fix it. The reason I want it fixed though and not buy an external display is so I can give it to my mom when I upgrade. The computer still runs great
I just dont have a working LCD. I'm pretty sure it's a straightforward pull and replace too.
Any other insights??
Also no Apple Store in my neck of the woods.

Bump. Really need to some help on the exact LCD I should buy and how difficult of a project I'm looking at. I don't have a warranty so no fear of voiding.

First hit seems to be instructions on replacing the screen, fourth and sixth hits look like videos of same.

ifixit.com has parts for MBs, so you might look there to find out which specific display you'd need. Since the thread doesn't say which model MB you have?
