Boy, the notebooks are getting so good, what with 8GB RAM and a 3Ghz processor, unibody, battery life, great keyboard, the only thing left for me to wish for is a 512k or 1 TB internal SSD. Any idea if one will be included in the imminent release?

The largest I've seen is 256 GB, but I can't comment on brands because I've had zero experience with SSDs. Your best bet would be to Google for reviews on SSD brands. I'm sure there are plenty. Find out what the general consensus is. To find the best prices, I would check Newegg.com Any SSD that is 2.5" and SATA should fit your laptop.

Maybe some other users on here can post comments on various brands.

Apparently Toshiba has a 512GB SSD drive, but it's nearly US $1500.

pureSilicon announced their 1TB (2.5") SSD in January... was supposed to ship last quarter IIRC.

If Apple did offer a 512 GB SSD, they'd surely charge twice what it would cost to get the same drive elsewhere.

Put me in the "buy a third-party one" camp.

Hi Mark, Thanks again! I think this is what I will get. But New Egg doesn't have it... I wonder if you know where one could buy it? That's a 3.5 disc size, right?

For my wife, I wonder if you know the largest capacity upgrade for her MB Air... thats a 2.5 disc size, right?

If I figure correctly, Apple is the driving force behind SSDs being affordable in the first place. SSDs were super expensive before Apple released the Air for about the same price an SSD cost.

The Air uses a 1.8" SSD/HDD. The standard laptop size is 2.5", and for desktops it's 3.5".

Which doesn't change the fact that Apple's upgrade price to an SSD from a regular hard drive is significantly higher than what Newegg would charge you for the whole drive.

No, it's 2.5" although it's too thick for a laptop.

Its the latest MBA with 128 SSD, which may prove too small...

128GB is the max for shipping 1.8" drives at the moment, although up to 512GB has been announced by SandForce.
