So I have a MBP here that an instructor had and though I have not been able to get the MBP to reproduce the issue for me he took screenshots as seen below. I have yet to get the laptop to do this but have not had it long enough to catch it. Would these not indicate the builtin video or logic board has an issue.

I did not expect the user to be able to take screenshots of a video issue. I was half thinking that the computer/screenshots would look normal though the screen was showing a messed image. Either way would this not mean video.

I have reset the PMU, PRAM and was told it was still occurring. Also the memory was changed out in case that was effecting anything.

Here are the screenshots:

imithchellg5 is most likely right. You'll have to take it in to get the motherboard replaced.

Apple has a warranty extension for this problem. Take it in to the apple store and if your machine is one of those eligible, they'll repair it free.

Are you still running Leopard, or have you upgraded to Snow Leopard?

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
