I'm curious about this too. I have an iBook from the same era. Battery is ka-put. Not sure if it's even worth replacing.

Maybe the first cycle or two run it down until you get the warning to give the system a proper read of the battery's capacity, but don't do that regularly as it shortens the life of lithium batteries.
