Hi all,

It has been a long time since I posted here. I hope everyone the best of holidays and a wonderful new year.

My MBP 15" A1150 is showing that the battery is not charging. It shows only 3662 mV and 68mA and 157 cycles on its status. Mac OS X 10.6 asks me to change it.

I have tried to reset the SMC already and it didn't make any difference except that it charged the battery for a few seconds.

So at the moment I'm thinking of purchasing a new battery. Apple's website says $159.99 and then there will be tax. I have been looking at third party batteries too. Does anyone have experience using non-Apple batteries in Macbook Pro? How is the performance? Is there any danger of malfunction?

This one at $60 with free shipping looks a good deal to me.

Thanks.

Don't.

Reputable battery manufacturers have shown tremendous difficulty in getting these damn things right and stable, but above all, they've shown that you can hold them responsible.

By all means buy a cheap battery if you have good fire coverage.

Even apart from the fire part, which I'm not *really* exaggerating, cheap batteries are prone to premature failure, so you end up buying two of them in the same time.

Our techs are staying the hell away from them, and that's always a clear sign to me.

I also read about Fastmac saying their batteries have more capacity that the standard ones from Apple. Even though the marginal capacity might not make much of a difference, how do they fare up as compared to Apple?

They are also a bit on the expensive side as compared to the one I was looking at on Buy.com above.
