I've been upgrading RAM in a few of the computers at work and it's been smooth sailing until this last one. He is running one of the 24" cinema displays with an atlona adaptor to get it to DVI. It's been running great for a few weeks in this configuration. After I got the new ram in, it was all working fine other then the display wouldn't...well, display. The USB mouse and the mag-safe charger worked just fine. I brought my 15" MBP over and plugged it in and the display fired right up as it should. He generally runs in windows XP, but it makes no difference. I've tried resetting the PRAM starting up with the lid closed and still nothing. We plugged in another display and it showed up, so his graphics card should be fine. I just don't see how this could be an issue on both the mac side and the windows side. I'm re-installing snow leopard...it's a sledge hammer approach, but he's got to get back up. Where else should I be looking?

Maybe his DVI adapter is broken. Do you have another adapter to try? If not, you can order one for cheap from Monoprice You can often do overnight shipping for cheaper than cables elsewhere.

No DVI adaptor being used other then the DVI to micro-DVI, but that's working fine (tested on two other MBP's in the office). We get no picture out of that setup at all. Plugging in a 20" cinema display results in an off colored scrambled image. I did some more searching and found out there is an issue with the NVIDA 8600M in that vintage of MBP, so I'll be running the computer up to the apple store this weekend. I'll post up with my findings.
