I'm trying to help a friend out but I told him there probably wasn't much he could do without having to pay for a fix. The issue he is having with charging the PB. He told me for a while he had to put the charge next to a wall so it would stay firmly in the PB and it got progressively worse to point that no matter how hard he pushed the charger into the PB it would charge for 2-3 seconds and then not charge anymore. He has tried a new charger itself but he ruled that out when the brand new one didn't work. Any suggestions?

So if it won't charge, I guess the battery is now down to zero? Does the machine stay on without a battery in it? Maybe he needs a new battery.

He says he'll try that out. For some reason I thought 12 inch PBs couldn't just have the charger without the battery.

Ummm, it's not a bad battery, it's that the power jack (or the plug) is broken. Use a known-good adapter from somebody else's PowerBook to see whether the problem is in the plug or jack, then go from there.

My 12" has this same issue, it's with the jack in the computer. Could be different in this case of course, but that's my experience.

He tried a brand new adapter. I think he is retiring his PB and coming to the intel side instead of repairing it. Thanks for the replies!
