I want to replace the optical bay in my 15in MacBook with a 2nd HDD but I have 2 questions first.

1. How does this effect the weight? (very little I assume)
2. How does it effect battery life?

Weight would be reduced, hard to say about battery life though. If you have spin down hard disks when possible on, it probably won't be that much different than if you are not using the optical drive or the hard drive. When operating I would imagine a 2.5" laptop drive still uses less power than an optical drive.
