I installed XP on my MBP, plus GTA:SA and GTA:VC. The graphics are so much better than on Playstation 2, it's amazing. But I'm having a bitch of a time getting it to work right on my TV. I have miniDP to hdmi, and analog audio. It works perfectly through OS X. In Clamshell mode or as dual displays. But in XP I have nothing but problems. I want clamshell mode because I want the computer to only "SEE" one display, the external. But turns out Clamshell is a software feature after all, not pure hardware. So when I hook up the display in XP, I can't set the right resolution. I mean the resolution looks right, but when I go to set it, the control panel freaks out with an error. Meanwhile when I launch my game, it gives me a prompt to choose my display and my resolution. Of course it gives me no way to differentiate between which display is which so you just have to use trial and error. But on the HDMI monitor, it won't let me choose the native resolution, or any widescreen res (1280x720), best I can get is 1024x768. The game stretches to widescreen so there isn't really any distortion, but it still doesn't look as good as it could. I really want the MacBook Pro to see only the external display. And let me use it's native resolution in games. Thats the only reason i put bootcamp/windows on this MacBook. Any suggestions?

Ok so I guess this has gone from a MBP problem to a windows problem (shocker). I downloaded and installed nvidia's own 9 series drivers. Then from that control panel, I was able to set the external as the only display, via some very poorly labeled options. Then I was able to set the res of the TV to 1280 x 720. So I'm right on track at this point. But my game still only lets me choose 1024 x 768 for the HDMI output. Now when I hooked up a miniDP to DVI connector to my miniDP port, this game lets me choose the native res of 1650 x 1080 no problem. And on the internet screen, I can choose 1280 x 720 in the game no problem. But when I use my monoprice hdmi adapter, I get 600x400, 800x600, and 1024x768. That's it, no other options. Very annoying. I want some real high quality gaming here. Otherwise the game runs really well, and playing it using my playstation controller connected to a USB adapter works extremely well.

I hope I understood correctly, Why not use only the DVI adapter? That one gave you the resolution that you like.
I think XP can´t maximize the resolution using HDMI (probably because hdmi wasn´t even out when XP was created), but have you also tried using a VGA adapter (granted your display has a VGA conection)?

Turns out the game had a bug that blocked 16:9 resolutions. The DVI adapter didn't let me set the resolution I wanted, it let me set a 20" screen, but now I'm trying to do a 720p TV. BUT it's all settled. I actually installed windows 7, upgraded the game, and now everything works relatively well. The frame rate isn't all that it could be, and many think I could gain a few fps going back to XP. But using XP is like trying to play games on a typewriter. Plus I really don't feel like spending that much time messing with windows.
