Long story short, I was an idiot and erased my hard drive. The only way I could get the OS (10.5) to load was to copy the disk image from a different macbook in my house so now I'm running my sisters computer essentially. I have my OS (10.6.3) and everything backed up on my external HDD with Time Machine. I tried to restore from time machine from her installation disk (10.5.7) but it won't let me. Any thoughts on how I can get my info back.

Thanks in advance.

Boot from a 10.6 install disk. If you look around the menus, you can find the option to restore from a Time Machine backup. You can use an upgrade disk for this as well - it doesn't have to be a full installation disk.
The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx

Like the idiot I am, I left my 10.6 install disk up at school (3+ hours away) is there another work around or is there an image of the disk online somewhere? And thanks for responding quickly.

To restore from a 10.6 Time Machine backup, you need to boot from 10.6. If you don't want to make the drive, I think the easiest is to buy a new 10.6 upgrade disc. They cost $29, and you can give it to your sister afterwards.

There are certainly discs available online somewhere, but not of the legal kind.

Thanks for your help P. I had a friend at work who had the 10.6 start up disk so I was able to restore my system last night.
