I Just reinstalled Snow Lep. on my MBP (Late 2008). I also Installed a 500MB 7200RPM Segate Drive. I have been having issues with finder chocking up. Does anyone have a clue as to what this might be?

My MacBook has also been getting very very hot...

check your physical install of the new drive. maybe try the original drive again, see if that's ok.
maybe reinstall the OS?
first, tho, make sure you're using the right kind of drive (google this, there are laptop drives that DO NOT play nice with the macbook pros...)

Check Activity Monitor to see if something is using all the CPU, then check Console for any error messages.
The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx

A 7200 RPM Seagate drive should speed everything up-it is almost certainly not your new drive causing this. I upgraded my original model MBP with a Momentus 7200 RPM 500GB drive and reinstalled the OS, and noticed a really nice improvement in speed. Unfortunately I did not think to run any benchmarks for before/after comparisons, but the basic "how long does it take to boot" and "how long does it take to open a new Finder window" times were noticeably shorter.

Yes, of course. "Assuming the drive is healthy..." a new, fast drive should speed up a machine.
