Can someone help me with this decision. I know this is a long story, but I will tell it. I currently have a 27-i7-iMac-8gig of ram-4850- monster of a computer for a home machine.
Never any issue with it. I love it. I am currently in graduate classes that I technically do not need a computer for. I want to have a computer for the one night I go to school because of the fact that the school gives the option of old beat up windows computers. There are many situations that I run into that the mac is the way to go. I solve many issues that cannot be solved on a pc. In any event, my issue is do I go practical and save a couple hundred dollars that is not going to make a difference, or do i go 17 full tilt with the seagate momentus XT? I really want the 17 i7 and I think in the long run, it will make me happier. I know that I will regret getting anything else. I just need help deciding between practical and desire. The price difference is minimal.
I like the larger screen with higher resolution, I like the 17, I don't mind the size because I do not carry it much. I like carrying around a full desktop that i do not truly need, until, I need it.
I know the 15 is more than I will need and will suit the same purpose if I do the i7, but with less pixels and smaller form factor.I have tried both. I just sold my core 2 duo 2.53 15 that I loved. it was not getting alot of use since the iMac arrived. Though I have had 17inch i7 envy since I saw it. I generally have to have top of the line and never have any regrets about it.
I just need help deciding between the two. Please help me. I am going to order and friday and I would like some other to weigh in, your opinion is important you are my online Mac Family...
Thank you all for the years of help and support in Mac Land.

You know what you want, you know you'll regret anything else, you can afford to splurge, and yet, you need confirmation?

Okay: mommy approves.

I went with the 17 inch macbook pro i7. I did not make any other changes to the standard config though.
I also order a express card reader thing and a seagate momentous XT.
I have read good reviews and figured that is a good update.
PS. thanks mommy
