My partner dropped her G4 powermac laptop and now the display is
haunted by mysterious shapes which obscure the most interesting parts
of the screen. My question, I've seen a power mac 200 mhz for sale at a
reasonable price. Can I, no, is it worthwhile for me to buy the 2oo mhz
laptop and switch the covers/display/lid etc? Can one, as inept as I simply
unscrew one, and screw in the other without screwing up everything?

longing to hear from superior techktypes.

Welcome to our forums!

I'm confused by your post. I presume you mean a G4 aluminum Powerbook is what has been damaged. I don't know what a 200 Mhz Power Mac is other than really, really old. Do you mean a Powerbook 2xx, like a Duo 230 or something? In any case, there is no way you could simply exchange the LCD panels between such completely different machines.

Sounds like time for an expensive repair at an Apple store or better yet a new computer.

I moved this thread to Notebooks because it seems to be more about fixing the PM than about any Mac desktop... If I was wrong, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
