I have a 13.3" MBP and came into possession of a dead 15" MBP with a core i5 processor. Would I be able to swap the ccore i5 into my 13.3" MBP?

I would do everything in my power to resurrect that dead 15". That thing has to be worth some money still.

That 15-inch MBP should still be under warranty...those weren't even available until April of 2010...so unless it was dropped in a toilet or a swimming pool I would imagine getting it fixed wouldn't cost anything.

Well apparently MBP's don't like red wine. Luckily it wasn't mine, it was a clients (who ended up just going out and purchasing a new one) and I was hoping to salvage some components from it.

liquid damage in all likelihood shorted out the logic board rendering it worthless.
Take it apart, clean up the residue and dry the laptop out for a few days, preferably in some rice (the rice draws out the moisture) and then see if it starts up. Odds are against you however.
