I looked around, couldn't find anything on this here or elsewhere.
I have a previous generation intel MBP, 15" aluminum style. Today I was using it all day, worked fine running 10.6.4, then tonight I installed updates, and now the screen is dark. Chimes, keyboard lights up, I can even see it on my local network, mount disks no problem, so it must be a video issue. I tried booting from the Snow Leopard disc, no luck. Any ideas? I really would like to use my computer. Thanks in advance.

If it won't boot from the disc, it may not be the update to blame. Does this machine have an nVidia 8600M GT card by any chance? Thats exactly what happens to those when they start to fail. Take it to Apple, it may still be covered.
