I picked up my macbook today and i noticed the batter/HDD access panelon one side was not flush with the rest of the casing. So i popped it open using the latch and tried to see if i could close it "properly".

Long story short, it seems like the battery has sort of expanded on one side, to the point where it's pushing up against the access panel and not letting it close completely.

I've made an appointment with the local Apple store(48 hours from now) and i do have AppleCare on it.

Is there anything i need to keep in mind or look out for ? i think a battery replacement is in order, but i wouldnt be surprised if they tried to weasel their way out of it.

Cheers

Technically they aren't liable for batteries over 1 year or 300 cycles old, even under Applecare. Since bulging is demonstrably faulty and maybe potentially dangerous, they ought to make an exception for you. Doesn't mean they will though.

Quick update.

Best after sales service i have ever experienced. Was in and out of the Apple store within 20 minutes, with a brand new battery.

Cheers

Great. I can't imagine them not replacing a bulging battery, especially from the liability and safety perspective.
