So I connected my Macbook to my 46" TV. I went to System Preferences > Displays
so I could mirror my display on the big screen.
Then I had some fun with the various display color profiles and testing them on both screens for about 30 minutes.
Then I disconnected from the TV and took my Macbook back to my workstation. Whatever I did, the colors on my Macbook suddenly popped to life, as if I was looking at a true high-def 8-bit TV display (or even an Apple cinema display). And my Macbook's colors stayed that way, no matter what profile I picked. I thought this was all awesome, especially since I expect a bland 6-bit gamma from a Macbook screen.
So here I was enjoying the ultrabold colors, until I restarted my computer, then I lost the saturated colorful awesomeness.
Is there any way I can capture the profiles my TV uses to my MacBook so that I can always use these bright colors 24/7?
It's hard for me to do a search for internet solutions on this one, and the software calibrated profiles I've found so far are really bad. For now I'm using a manual one that I created in the usual System Preferences, but the display I momentarily "captured" from the TV is far superior.
