Hello I am a new poster but I need help. I just spilled an amped on the bottom left corner of my mac book pro. I immediately turned it off and wiped it down. It is sitting upside down on my desk with a towel underneath the keyboard to hopefully let the moisture drain onto it. I turned it on before I placed it on the towel and it was functional. The only thing that didn't seem to work was the volume buttons. I am nOt sure why this is the case as the liquid spilled on the directional keys. I am hoping that this issue will fix itself when I reboot it. Also I am allowing it to sit for a few hours and then am going to reboot. Also I have the apple care plan as well as the computer is covered under my home owners insurance, will this be covered in the event these keys don't regain function? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

AppleCare is warranty, not insurance.

Warranties cover the product breaking, and are automatically void if YOU break the product.

Home owners' insurance generally covers theft, fire, water damage, etc., but also does not cover breakage through your own damn fault.

Let it dry for days not hours (many days if it is a humid environment), and I hope you removed the battery. If it ever happens again do not turn it on before you place it on the towel.

Good luck.

In the UK, a lot of home insurance policies do cover accidental damage.
MacBook 2.0GHz CD; MacBook Pro 15" 2.4GHz Late '08; PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 1GHz; 3x Xserve G4 1GHz; Mac Mini 2GHz; Big pile of broken and working bits;

Really?

Huh. Might almost be a reason to move there.

OTOH - plumbing that works vs. insurance that works; I think I'd prefer the former.
