This is already the second time my Airport card has failed. The first time it did i brought it to a repair shop which a reseller outsources its servicing to and i was set back by a whopping S$480. Thinking of DIY this time - thanks in advance!

You paid $480 for an Airport Card??!!! Wow. Did they outsource it to the ISS?
How long ago was this? I'd take it back and say "You charged me $480 to replace a $50 part and now its failed again. Fix it for free."

This thread is a great advertisement for extended Applecare...

The best online prices for Applecare are at the L.A. Computer Company.

Apple wouldn't have charged anywhere near that for an Airport Card. They would have replaced the entire top half for that kind of money.

S$480 works out to be about $350 US dollars if its Singapore. Airport Card + Labor, that isn't really that excessive.

That's a lot for that job. It should take around an hour and a half, max. Thats about $150 plus the part, $50.
It's listed as a difficult job on iFixit but it's more fiddly than difficult. $480 is a rip.
