Hello I have a 2009 MacBook UniBody and here are the specs

MacBook 6.1
18 Month Old
Battery load cycles 231
Battery Capacity 4439 mAh / 5450 mAh
Current Charge 2369 mAh / 4439 mAh

What is the life of a battery for this model mac, how many times can I charge it before it has to be replaced, and is a good idea to let it drain then charge or use some, then plug in.

These batteries should last for 1000 cycles. Standard warranty is still one year without Applecare. Not sure if they extend it for batteries under the 1000 cycle count.
MacBook 2.0GHz CD; MacBook Pro 15" 2.4GHz Late '08; PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 1GHz; 3x Xserve G4 1GHz; Mac Mini 2GHz; Big pile of broken and working bits;

You're at 81% of original capacity after just 231 cycles... clearly not living up to the expectation provided by Apple's claims: "The built-in battery of your MacBook, MacBook Pro or MacBook Air is designed to deliver up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles before it reaches 80 percent of its original capacity."

Wow Mduell are you for real, maybe I need to contact Apple and see what they say, I am sure though they will not replace it, is there somewhere that explains the way a battery is supposed to operate so I can have some backup to take with me to apple store ?

Thanks
