So my HDD fried in my 2007 Macbook and i formatted a extra HDD i had to use on the macbook.
As i formatted the HDD in Windows 7, and left it with no partitions. and inserted it into the macbook. as i also put in the OS X Lion Disk i burned, every time i try to load from Disk, it never works. ( i Press and hold "C" before the grey screen comes on) After 2 minutes the screen turns black and i get the screen
" BOOTMGR is missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

Cant get Disk Utility to show.

What did i do wrong and how could i fix this. urgently trying to install OS X but the disk is not even read by the Macbook. i tried 2 different discs.
i tried pressing Option(ALT) and all i get is the harddrive option to start,
eventhough i have the OS X dvd in the Disk drive.

Could it be that since i was given a burned copy of OS X that it's not working?
(this is that is shown when i hold ALT while the install disk is inserted"

Also im not sure how to use " migration assistant" there are no files in the HDD.

Here's a pic of the HDD i'm trying to use

I posted a video showing my problem:

Sounds like your Lion installer was not made properly.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

At what point do you hold the C key and when do you let go? If the disk is in the drive, you have to immediately press and hold C after pushing the power button and hold it until you see the gray apple (or I sometimes hold it until I see the installer).

As far as the disk is concerned, how did you burn it? I'm assuming you used the "InstallESD.dmg" disk image file from the Lion download from the App store. You should do this in Disk Utility and burn the image, not simply burn the .dmg file itself onto the disk (Disk Utility Images menu -> Burn).

If you're still having problems, I'd try redownloading from the App store and reburning.
