Hey all, I have an iBook that has been conneted to airport for a while now. We had the orginal airport, but then we upgraded to airport 2, and I lost a bit of range on my iBook. My Dad just bought a Ti 400 to replace his Lombard, and he put a airport card we had lying around in it. It's range ends up being about half that of my iBook, is this normal? And also is it normal to lose range with ABS2? Thanks

The first rev Ti's had notoriously bad airport reception. Improvement has definitely been made here. Regarding Airport Basestations and range, I can comment specifically on my own experience with the Titanium PowerBooks. There was a significant boost in range in my house when I upgraded from ABS 1.0 to ABS 2.0. Even the previously poor Ti400 was remedied solely by basestation change. I simply unplugged the ABS 1.0 and plugged in the ABS 2.0 and noticed dramatic improvement in range.

Wow, I wonder if there is a problem with our ABS2, because we definitly lost range somewhere. The Ti's range is around 40ft, which I consider unacceptible. The iBook can go at least double that.

Well, all I know is that since switching to the ABS 2.0 I have been able to get full coverage inside my house (2000 sq ft.) with my Ti 800. I can even go into my backyard and to my neighbor's door across the street. Very satisfied here.
