I'm running a Powerbook G3/400 Lombard with 256mb RAM. In OS X, I get about 1.5 hours with the screen turned down to the lowest brightness setting and the volume off. What do you get?

In 10.1.5 my TiBook 800 gets 3.5 to 4 hours when doing normal tasks like reading email, web surfing and light multimedia (watching QuickTime movie trailers). The screen brightness is set to 9 bars out of 16.

2.5 to 3 hours doing things like playing MP3s and browsing the internet (with the occasional QuickTime movie), with screen brightness at about 2/3 of max.

TiBook 500 - I get 2.5-3 hours with half brightness doing normal kinda stuff (web browsing, email, movies, etc).
I've found I get over 5 with the screen turned off, just playing mp3's.
I wish there was some f*21$ng way to be able to close the lid of the TiBook while keeping it on.
Eek :/

I think by battery works better 3 to 4 or more hours doing normall stuff with highest brightness setting.
Powerbook G4 800mhz, infrared mouse connected, airport connection, 768mb ram
I almost always use all battery live that is left. Even with lithion I think it is better.

Actively browsing the Internet with AirPort enabled, I get about two hours off each of my batteries in my 500-megahertz G3 PowerBook with no power saving features enabled (full brightness, overclocked cache to 250 megahertz from 200 megahertz).

I have 3 batteries that I rotate among and get a whole DVD (but not Harry Potter my kids tell me) out of each plus a little extra on a 667 combo. The first alert comes up after most movies are over. It may be good that by watching DVD I cycle the batteries down real low at least once or twice a week. I have heard they don't need cycling but I think I am getting some longevity by doing it, heck, I don't know.

800mhz TiBook DVI <--- 1.5 hours or less regardless of energy saver settings or brightness screen.
I conditioned the battery when I first received and used the Powerbook and have since had the Power Manager reset at the Apple Store, Tysons Corner, Virginia.
Should I have Apple replace the battery? If others are getting 3 to 4 hours of battery life. Apple advertises 5 hours I think it is time to start complaining.

If I may mention my iBook's battery life here:
I just got 1hour 10min watching the keynote - I was on my AirPort, in OS X, max brightness and audio, while doing nothing but QuickTime. Does that battery life not suck? This is an iBook 500 (66Mhz bus) with 384MB RAM, so a lot of extra RAM shouldn't be drawing too much power.
Should I get a new battery? Or could Jaguar's new power management possibly dramatically improve this? (wish the hard drive would spin down, it really doesn't, not even when I'm just watching QuickTime player)

Mine's about 2 to 2.25 hours with the screen around 11/15 on brightness, playing MP3's.
It's a PB 800 DVI set to full speed. Battery life on my 667 VGA was about the same.
5 hours on a battery... heh. Only with the screen turned to 0/15 ;-)

I get almost 4 hours out of my Ti DVI 800. Always wondered how Apple says these things are supposed to get almost 5 hours. That would be nice!

I wish I'd started charting battery life when I got my Powerbook. It's a G4, 550mhz w/ DVD (not CDRW+DVD). It seems like when it was new I could get 3.5-4 hours but I've lost roughly 30 minutes in the 6 months I've had it.
Airport and Screen Brightness does seem to make a difference - with the airport card off and the screen brightness set halfway it seems to get the most runtime - I can watch a DVD and not get a low power warning. It's quite possible that the DVD drive draws less power than the DVD+CDRW drive even when you're not burning a cd which might account for some of the differences people are seeing between the newer powerbooks and the older ones.

Hello all, well im getting about 2.5 w/both batteries in. On my Pismo 500 with Airport and full brightness. I noticed my battery life drop after I switched from OS 9- OS X. Oh well hope the new energy enhancements of Jaguar help to squeeze a bit more of mobile use.

Airport REALLY sucks a battery clean IMHO
When on a train, coming home i can usually watch an entire DVD movie w/ brightness a little less then full.
Athome w/ airport active, i get under 2 hours usually.
over 3 hours for normal tasks when traveling

I get about 2 hours using my PowerBook G3; OSX and my screen and sound turned one notch from completely off. I think that I need new batteries and possibly you need new ones as well.

I get around 90 minutes to 2 hours on my Rev. B TiBook 667. I have 512MB RAM and use AirPort for the net connection. The brightness is set at 6-7 dots out of the 16. I think Apple's 5 hour battery claim is based on turning the machine on at minimum brightness with "reduce processor speed" and "processor cycling" turned on, and letting it sit there until it runs out of juice. I miss my Lombard, used with two batteries in the bays. I got 6-7 hours easily out of that machine.

I have the rev. b 550 combo drive with 512MB RAM. I always have mine set to full brightness and usually get 3.5 to four hours of real use out of the machine, unless I'm playing MP3s which really seem to suck alot of CPU and therefore power.
I didn't recently find my battery getting less life than it had. Shut the machine off, be sure it's unplugged. then hold the reset button in the back down for about 5 seconds (this will probably take a small pen cap tip or something). then restart and see if it helps. that will reset the power manager, or some such thing.
