Has anyone managed to setup a Cingular RAZR v3xx as bluetooth modem for EDGE or 3G, on a Mac? I followed instructions I found here and am able to get online over GPRS, but not over EDGE or 3G. A quick search also didn't turn up anything, possibly because the v3xx just came out a few weeks ago. Any information would be appreciated greatly...

This should work for an EDGE network. I don't know about a 3G one.

TCP/IP

Set it to Connect or Configure using PPP. You can leave everything else emtpy.

PPP

Account name (ie, username): WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Phone number: *99#1

(I would click Save Password)

For PPP options set what you want except you might want to turn off "Send PPP Echo Packets", and "TCP Header Compression" as that can cause problems for some.

Modem

Try the Motorola iR Timeport (7098)

Click Apply now. Go back to PPP and click Dial.

If you close the computer without logging off the modem (or other like events) the phone sometimes gets confused and just will not allow another connection. Just turn the phone off and back on and it should work again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just gave it try, but the connection errors out after the authentication stage, with the message "could not negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server". This was with 4 bars on an EDGE network, and the GPRS connection worked...

I will try to figure it out later when my wife gets home. She has a RAZR and we often connect to EDGE networks over Bluetooth. She just got this phone so we haven't had a chance to figure it out yet.
