Hi,
I recently picked up a second-hand Performa 580CD,
it came with an ethernet card (Sonnet T)
installed in the communications slot
I bought a cross-over cable (to talk to my iMac)
and some external speakers.
I plugged in the ethernet card,
set-up File Sharing and Apple Talk,
and it all worked flawlessly.
However, when I went to connect my speakers,
the speaker plug wouldn't go into the sound-in port,
the case was misaligned with the ports,
so, on taking off the case to realign the ports,
I noticed that the ethernet card was very wobly,
on further inspection I noticed that
it wasn't held in very firmly at all,
I attempted to secure it, to no avail,
now the computer doesn't recognise the card
in the Apple-Talk control pannel,
Now the computer's display won't work
with the card installed
works fine with it out
Should the ethernet card snap into place like RAM,
is there some way of supporting the card in this machine,
or is the card just bad?
