I have been trying to help someone who has a Perfroma 580CD with system Software 7.5.1 to get on line. She has an external 14400 Teleport Gold 11 modem.
The problem the computer won’t recognize the modem. According to the manual the teleport Serial control panel should be headed up with
‘Teleport Gold 11’ with modem settings down the left side. But all I get is
‘Teleport Unknown Modem’
I saved all her stuff and reinstalled all her system and other software and loaded Open Transport and Free PPP. I put a copy of the modem software and Apple Modem tool in the ClarisWorks (where I followed instructions and got the Communications segment to list the modem but she doesn’t want to use that) and Claris Emailer Lite folders while leaving the originals in extensions folder. Still there does not seem to be anywhere to select the modem.
What am I missing?
