The question is which "cheapo" ATI . The link doesn't tell you.

I don't think it's an ATI, but probably the same Apple video controller used in other 7x00 and 8x00 macs (whether this is actually made by ATI, I don't know, but it isn't advertised as one).

I'm with firefly, it's some Apple proprietary thing or a _very_ cheap ATI thing without 3D support at all. A hint if you're trying to figure this stuff out: If it says VRAM on the graphics memory, it's probably an Apple chip; if it says SGRAM, it's an early ATI Rage thingy.

Apple's take on it, doesn't offer any clues other than the VRAM thing (as opposed to SGRAM).

The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx

This is the information given by Apple System Profiler on my 7600 about the graphics chip, which leads me to believe it is made by Apple:
Built-in display card
Card type: display
Card name: control
Card model: AAPL,343S1154
Card ROM #: Not available
Card Revision: 1
Card Vendor ID: 106B
