Hi!

I have a Performa 580CD that suddenly won't power on,
coincidentally a beeping sound can suddenly be heard from the back of the machine, this sound stops when you switch the machine off at the back, and recommences when you switch it back on.
Could this be a bad power supply?
Any thoughts are most welcome

If you don't get any chimes (in fact no screen or sound at all), it's a good bet that the powersupply has gone.

Does the powersupply fan start when you turn on the machine?

I've rarely had the powersupplys fail on Apple Computers, but it does happen. When they go they usually go without much of a struggle.

Hi

It turned out that we had to replace analogue board
(which is apparently where the power supply is found)
and for good measure, the battery was dead as well.
Hopefully that should keep Performa happy
for quite some time to come.
