I have an 8100/100 that I use an older Avid nonlinear editing system on. The software will not work on an OS higher than 7.51 and is tied to the hardware as well. Would bumping the L2 cache from 256 to
1 meg make any improvements and what about clocking up the CPU?

Thanks, Curt.

more ram is always good. especially ram that is closely tied to the cpu.
As to OC you must consider bus speed & ram speed timing. Read up on it.

It may help, however, you will be limited to a certain speed by the 8100's relatively low bus speed etc... it may not be worth the upgrade.
You may be better off getting an entirely new, non-hardware tied system if thats an option...

spending money on L2 or a clockbooster will only give margianl performance boosts say 10-30%. So if it is to slow at is it still we be to slow. A lowend G3 card ( up to say 200 dollar) will give a substantial boost at a resonable cost. Spending more thatn that is waste of money
