Good effort, but none of the sites in the last post will do you any good. Don't bother.
The Intelligent battery came with the 500 series (the original 68LC040, not the new one). A battery reconditioner also came with OS 7.5.3 for 5300 and 1400 powerbooks, the Duos with NiMH batteries, and maybe the 3400 with later OS. Apple won't have any software that would be useful for your 1xx series powerbook. They didn't even make a utility for that way back when.
You need a copy of Battery Amnesia, which is a shareware utility. You may be able to find it at versiontracker.
You should also find a copy of ResetPwrMgr, which will do a thorough reset on your internal power chip.
Battery Amnesia will work, but it will take several tries. And the battery might just be totally dead. You can get a new one at mcglen.com . The same battery will work for 140-180c powerbooks (but not the 100) and the 1xx series.
