Hello,
Recently I saw an auction in Yahoo Japan about selling a PowerMac6100 with a Sonnet Crescendo G3 card and 2 72pin 128MB SIMM RAM on it. Isn't Apple said that 72MB is the max. amount of RAM in a PowerMac6100? http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/7051551
(Shown in Japanese)

Max RAM on any 6100 is 72 (two 32M simms and the 8 MB on the motherboard). Unless you had some type of expander to use one slot as a multiple slot. I have never heard of anyone getting the ROM to support that much RAM in a 61xx, but in Japan they have hacked about everything so I wouldn't be surprised.
Of course, that could be the number using RAMDoubler or some other Virtual Memory technique.
I've heard of 64M 72-pin FPM SIMMs, but I"ve never seen one up close. They might work, and that would give 136M as max (unsupported by Apple, of course). On a machine that old, whether it is supported or not is moot. If it works, use it!

ACtually, i believe Sonnet makes a 128 MB upgrade for the 6100 series of powermacs. mac ram on a 6116 is now 264, so what you saw is probably correct.

The 6100 series PowerMacs definitely recognize 136MB RAM. I have upgraded at least 2 of them. Check out http://www.macsolutions.com if you need 72 pin SIMMS or any other type of RAM. They are Apple Authorized resellers, and in nearly all RAM categories, their prices beat everyone else out there, and the RAM is excellent quality and guaranteed. (I have seen less expensive P100 SDRAM at http://www.crucial.com but their prices for other RAM is considerably more.)
