System memory problems

I recently purchased a 7500/100, VM on, 32megs of Ram, and networked it to my G3, using an XRouter hub, via Ethernet.

The 7500 seems to open the files that came with it just fine. The problem is that many of my G3 files do not open on the 7500. I keep getting a dialog box that says: "Not enough memory to run OLE with Works {an ancient but lovely Microsoft app.} Try quitting other applications or reducing system memory requirements."

When I tried to open another Application, it read: "{the application} could not initialize VM. Your disk is probably full."

Any thoughts?

Have you tried copying those files to the 7500 and see if thet'll run then... This may help you figure out if it is a network issue... Although I don't know why that would affect things.

What OS's are you running on the machines?

I use 8.6 on both computers. And I did copy the Works program to the 7500. Still got the came message. I even tried turning the Virtual Memory on and off.

Interestingly, when I turned off Virtual Memory, I rebooted and checked the "about this computer" in the Apple menu. It said I had "64 MB used" of virtual memory. Any idea what that means?
