Newer G3 6100 into my 8100

I'm trying to run a Newertech Maxpower 6100 card (working) in my 8100. It fits,with a small mod to the rear case, but bombs on boot claiming a "bus error". The G3 card is for a 6100, therefore bus speed of 30 or 33.
The 8100/100 has a bus speed of 33.33
Can I align the speeds and if so, how ?
Buying another card is out of the question at the moment.
