so for some reason I keep buying old powermacs, anyhow the last one I got was a 6500 to use as an mp3 server. I found an Apple multiscan 15" monitor on ebay for cheap and thought I was set. I plug it in and it makes all the right sounds, except that the video is set to 640x480 as default. Not a problem I think, but as I go to the monitor control panel it's the only option available. So I play around with the control panel, calibrate the color and all that, and decide to restart the machine. So then after a restart other video settings magically appear and I can run the monitor at 800x600 with millions of colors like I had originally envisioned. Thinking that all is well, I shut the thing down as usual but today when I start the thing up again I only get 640x480 resolution again. But today no matter how many times I restart the thing and play with the monitor control panel I can't get anything but 640x480 resolution. Does anyone know what could possibly be going wrong?
