I have a customer's Performa 6400/200, with an Assante EtherFast 10/100 PCI card. I upgraded his system to 8.6, and somehow the settings were scrapped. So now I installed the latest (Rev B) drivers from Asante, but I still can't select Ethernet from the AppleTalk Control Panel. Any ideas how I can get the OS to detect the card to set the user up so they can use a cable modem?

Try resetting the Pram. There is a cuda button on the logic board which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, at least that was the case with my old Performa 6400. I suppose the surest way to facilitate this would be to unplug the battery for a few minutes and plug it back in. Afterwords, I usually still pressed the cuda button anyway. Naturally, this will require you to reset the time and date etcetera after this is accomplished. This process(unplugging the battery) got my internal CD-ROM drive to mount when no amount of zapping the pram via tech tool or the cuda button would work.
