Does anyone have any info on whether either of these will work on the UMAX Supermac C600x...Upgrading to OS9 and any G3 upgrade that will work...I have heard Newer tech has a Level 2 Cache G3 upgrade they claim works...haven't heard of anybody who tried it...
Thanks

I believe it's either sonnet or PowerLogix who has a ZIF G3 upgrade.

I know it has a zif socket or soem sort of socket, but I did not realise I could just pop a G3 ZIF card into that...I was under the impression I would have to replace the whole thing with a L2 Cache G3 card...
From other reports I am gathering MacOS 9 will run on the box but is unsupported...which is fine as long as it runs...

Mactell made a "ZIF" upgrade for the Umax "C" series - it's not the same as the ZIF the the G3 uses. I put one at 280MHz in my C600 and it worked fine for a while, then it fried. It was replaced by the manufacturer and it's working fine for almost a year now. Mactell is now out of business, so there's no warranty on the card any more, unless the merchant is giving one. BottomLine Distribution had some and was clearing them out not tooo long ago.

Newertech and Sonnet make a bunch of good cards. Go to their web sites and the details for what is available (if anything, but is likely) for your machine with MSRPricing as well. If you have an L2 cache slot, you probably can get a G3 card starting for around $200.
Good luck.
