I have along with my iMac a power tower pro 180, of which I want to get a little more speed out of,
and there are two things I wish to do:
The first is get more memory in to it, I have found a vendor who is selling the DIMMS for these older Macs/clones,
but I have one little problem, I don't know what voltage the ram is, and I don't want to order the wrong
sort.
The second thing is. I would like to upgrade the CPU on this machine, I have a friend who had upgraded his
beige g3, and still has the 233 G3 (i think) and its carrier board, is there any way I can use this, in the
power tower, or will I need to get a new cpu board?

I saw two shooting stars last night,
I wished on them, but they were only satilites,
its wrong to wish on space hardware,
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care.

I have a PowerComp. clone, and your tower would take the same type of RAM: 70 ns 168-pin DIMMs. I have a 128-mb chip in there now, and it works flawlessly.
I have a Sonnet G3 card, which also rocks. Sorry I don't know about the beige G3 mobo.

You'll want 168-pin 5.0V FPM DIMMS. Remember your motherboard is the same design as a Macintosh 9500... so hopefully that will help you in your quest. As far as the card is concerned, if it is a ZIF-socket card (ZIF stands for zero insertion force... and I think the beige G3s used them), you can use the processor, but you'll need a PCI-carrier card from XLR8 or someone like that to install into your processor slot. You can install the ZIF-processor onto the carrier card and the carrier card into your processor slot. Hope this helps.
