Anyone successfully running OS X on an 8500 with a combo Firewire/USB card? I bought one of those $20 CompUSA cards and only USB works. I got an iPod for X-mas and want to be able to hook it up to my 8500 running OS X.
Thanks in advance.
PS I have already looked on xlr8yourmac.com. Most postings only deal with OS 9 and with Beige G3 systems.
I'm using a Macally combo card in my 7600. I have an iPod and a QPS firewire CDR, and they both work just fine. They're a little pricey ($100?) but I haven't had a single problem in either 9.1 or X (I'm running 10.1.2 now).
Thanks for the replies. I saw on the XPostFacto site that the Macally card works. Decided on that one and bought it on OWC's site as well. I feel like it's the least I could do given all of Ryan Remple's work on OSX on unsupported machines.
