Hello! I have my new ADSL connection, then I'm interested in start with distributed computing (with Team MacNN ideally).

I like Ubero and RC5 —never SETI@Home—, but I think Porivo is an interesting opcion. Somebody knows about Porivo and a Mac OS X peer?

Thank you very much. Best regards from Colombia,

I had never heard of Porivo before now. For those curious, it is an internet load testing group, which does pay.

According to this FAQ answer:
"Porivo PEER is available for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000, Linux, and Solaris."

There was no mention of a Mac client, or plans for one. It should be easy to port a Linux/Solaris client to Mac OSX. If the project did so and our members expressed interest, we could certainly jump in with a MacNN team.

That doesn't look like a team DC project, it's just a load testing place.

Like Reader50 says, Porivo is an interesting service for this company to Websites. And Porivo PEER is the distributed computing client.

They have Solaris and Linux peers... it must be *easy* to port to Mac...

Yes, I think it isn't with teams... however, it sounds interesting.

Who says "I port it"?

Well, since it isn't a team based DC project, it's a definite no.
