ok, so i d/l'ed the F@H screensaver. Just for fun, and it has been running for over 2 days, and its barely over 1/4 done!!

Granted, it's a 400Mhz G3....but geez. Is that normal?

No, it's not normal. Folding is not altivec optimized yet, and my G4 350 typically completes in less than 24 hours. Granted, I normally use the CLI client. I've run maybe 2 units in the GUI app (to see the graphics) and never completed any in the Saver.

Folding does not like frequent interrupts, time spent in the saver will be wasted if it is left running less than ~15-20 minutes.

Note that my system is left crunching 24/7, so my completion time includes running overnight.

It is normal, depending on what protein you are folding. Some my original TiBook can do overnight, while the largest protein the project offers (p145_1L2Yunf) can take about 7 days of 24/7 crunching for it to finish. You can generally tell how long a protein will take by checking 1) its deadline and 2) the point value assigned to it. More complex proteins are awarded more points once they are returned. For instance, the deadline for p145 is 20 days, but it awarded 6 points.

They must be giving us the longer proteins again. The last time I checked, the project was handing out only the smaller ones to Macs.
