Is there any EASY way to install / set up a fast SETI client on my two Windoze boxes? The standard Windows client is soooooo SLLLOOOOWWWW...

I saw the instructions farther down in the forum but I don't feel like screwing around with installing two apps in WinME and XP... they... bother me...


I'm kicking out almost 5 WU a day with my four machines and the windows boxen are complete dogs! Almost not worth using due to the noise factor alone.

Sure.

SETI Hide or SETI Driver on winME, firedaemon on winxp.
It'll take about 5 minutes to setup.

I'll hunt down threads where I've posted instructions and link them, I don't feel like reposting.

The screensaver is just plain slow compared to the CLI.

WINXP:

First, download this: http://www.firedaemon.com/downloads/...e-1_5_1-GA.exe

Install it.

Also download this: ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/setiathome/s...nt-cmdline.exe

Rename it to something, like, oh, seti.exe
Put it somewhere safe, in it's own folder.
Run it, set it up with your username, let it get a WU, then kill it.

Setup firedaemon, add a service, use seti.
Set it to run at boot. Check taskmanager to see that it is running.
