Hi there. I've just signed up and am crunching away. I'm using my <gasp> Athlon 1gig desktop and it seems like it's taking forever. I'm guessing that the proxy setting for the MacNN group is the same for a PC machine (I don't know the first thing about proxy settings). If I need to change anything, just let me know. After this first unit is done, I'll find out if it works.

Someday I'll work the courage up to install it on my iBook 800 combo. But I'm treating it with kid gloves for now (until I have it for a few months, at least). It should be interesting how a G3 800/X.2.3 compares w/the Winamd/XP Pro machine.

Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of the goings on.

If you are using the windows screensaver, look into changing to the command line.
For windows 2000/xp, look into the firedaemon instructions posted in a nearby thread.
If it's 98/me, look for setihide or seti driver instructions.
It will give you a nice speed boost.

Yup, proxy will work fine for both OSes.
