Ouch my head hurts. Must have been from that smack from a Raven that flew past me.

Congrats on taking the lead in d-fold Raven.

At least I can say I was in the lead at one time in each of the d-fold projects.

Don't feel bad. Scott blew by me while I was napping. Sounded a bit like an out of control freight train.

I felt bad about the post after I went and saw that I had one machine that had a weeks worth of data stored on it. Did the dump and shot back into the #1 spot again. Wasn't getting anything out of the netboot clients so I put drives on them and started them on d-fold. Had bad memory in one of them.

I did notice last night that Welnic is out producing the top four on our team.

I can't pass raven
It looks like he's moving stuff from f@h.

I guess I'll be stuck in second place.

You might pass me for now
I won't be moving any boxes over untill the end of the week.
And then maybe I can be #1 on the team for once At least untill Cobramac decides to pass me (or jbcool keep watering that farm)

I've got two more boxes to add tomorrow if I'm lucky.
Decided not to water the farm for a while. I know from past experience that you can shoot by me any time you decide to fire things up, I know Scott can stomp me when he decides to also. Cobramac and Mikkyo are in a different class. I'm like in pro stock and they are fuel blown fire breathing dragons.

Got two boxes that will stay on F@H 'cause they don't like d-fold for some reason.

Ok gang. I have everything running that the electrical circuits in this dump of an appartment will allow. Plugged in one more last night and everything that wasn't on a ups went down.

There no place like home, theres no place like home. Where I have 50 amps going into my communications room.

Guess you all know which state the home base is in???

Just clicked my heels three time and it didn't work.

I did find a solution to the overloaded circut. Move the extra units into the guest bathroom.

I'm going to try and may you and Raven work for this one.

I just hope I can hold you guys back for a couple of weeks.

I found one of my missing 20GB HDs in a friend's garage, and another in the bottom of a box.
I think I should build systems to go with the drives

Good luck.
I think I can pass you both before raven moves his machines to DF at the end of the week. I just need a few free hours, and enough luck to prevent the breaker from blowing. It hasn't been possible to vacuum for months, because turning one on blows the breaker.

By golly I believe that you are right! Is that Fry's I hear calling you?

I would like to see you and Raven both knock me out of 1st place by the end of the week. Bring it on bad boy.

Let me kick these other boxes back in.

Your up against 5 2400+ machines. That should be enough information to let you know what you have to bring to the table.

However, if you want some more power, I'll give you more power.
Let me just fire up ssh to give some machines very swift kicks.

Edit: I have the feeling that machines at my other farm aren't running either.

Make it so!

Bummer on the box with the bad foot. Maybe a heat issue? Renice the process?

Bummer on the other farm also. I'm just standing up here hoping that I can take this **** with the red and white circles off.

Looks like we are running 1/1 at the moment so it won't take much.

I was gone over the weekend. I have dual 800 macs at work and home that I actually work with. I just got an upgrade on my work PC, it is a 2.4 GHz P4. But it is actually running F@H at the moment. I have various PCs borged at work, probably 5-7 at any one time.

And then I have the dedicated farm, which is 2 dual 2000MP boxen and a little 5 node cluster of 2100XPs. I have started making some power splitter cables and then I will probably add 3 more 2500XP nodes.

Your kicking out some pretty impresive numbers. I would have guess that you had more than that running. Thanks for the help with the netboot stuff. I will get it working at some point, work is getting in the way again.

I have (2) 2.4GB, (1) 2.53GB, (5) 2400+, (1) 2600+, and (1) 1900+ machines running plus (2) old junkers running in Wichita (maybe).

Raven: See that you have picked up the pace a little. If Scott and you both get serious I am toast by the end of the week.

So now you list your full specs. I was wondering how you were keeping up with me with only 5 xp2400s, now I know.

I was planning on stopping by the secondary farm after class tonight (it's close), and I forgot the keys! Hopefully I'll be able to go Wednesday night to check.
I've got some old parts at home that I'm going to try and make a machine out of, but it'll wait until tomorrow. It's late, I'm too tired to try building and installing a machine.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with you!

Side note, I just got shipping confirmation of a 512MB ram stick for the stats processing box. Dfold stats will have plenty of ram to use

Your only up against the five 2400 machine at the moment. I should have two more running by tomorrow. Some are on F@H and others are turned off to keep the circuit breaker from blowing. Oops just had a test machine upload some data this morning. It is shut back down until tonight.

I am shooting to number 4 in the next few weeks. You guys better move the rest of those farm boxes over to dFold and leave F@H behind!

I can't compete with the top 3 yet, but I do have some CPU's to move over yet, unfortunately they just 2 Ghz Pentium 4 at a clients location. They also insist that I run the screensaver verson, oh well still free cycles and they pick up the power bills!

Hey evey spare cycle counts and when you don't have the power bills associated well that is even better.

Me thinks you ought to go for the #1 spot. Leave them all in the dust.

Yea, right! If I continue at my current production rate today of around 90,000 per day, that would give me about 3 Ghz of power by Scott's calculation methods. If I add my clients 3 - 2 Ghz P4 boxes this weekend, I might move up to 4 Ghz. That still leaves me SIGNIFICANTLY behind the top three producers!!

BTW, what gives with this CPU power calc? I have 3 Athlon XP 2500 Barton CPU's and 3 Mac G4 boxes running at my house right now, just those add up to more than twice those calcs.

I think those calcs are still based upon the old client.

No one has posted any benchmarks to speak of, and my box is tied up on a large Tinker unit.

Welnic posted that the new client seems 40% as fast as the old client, so I adjusted the power figures accordingly.

Welnic did stop by with Team MacNN for a couple of months. Then his coworkers leaned on him to return the units to their team ... and said coworkers' machines were supplying most of his crunching power.

Coworkers can be so persuasive.

Well I haven't had time to do any benchmarking on phase II. However, I think Welnic is pretty close with the 40% estimate. You did mention what the calculations showed me as having, and I did post back what I really have (about 7.9 ghz right now).

Woo Hoo giddy up little doggies. I'm getting tired of the #1 spot anyway I just want you guys to earn it.

Just got the electric bill for last month and it looks like I have added another $75 a month. Ouch! Need to get a job in Greenland.

Mine was $253 for last month which had four less computers running than the next month will. I guessing a $275+ for next month. I think I was only paying about $160 the last time I worked here with four computers running. I have a watts up meter so I could actually figure out how much each computer is costing not counting the A/C to cool them. I was actually expecting a $300 bill so I am surprised with the A/C running pretty much nonstop.

My house in the land of oz is alway less than $200 due to the fact that all the heat generating equipment is in the basement. Don't use the heater much here or there in the winter.

I'm having a great time and what we are doing might (probably will) help someone in the future so it is all worth it.

Just be out buying things I don't need anyway.

Dang, I must live where electricity is cheap. My electric bill is about $30 a month, going up to no more then $40 in the winter when the electric heat might kick in.

Of course I don't have to pay for air conditioning.

The bill for me was ~$150 bucks last month. That was with 3 computers running full time. I've been sharing the DSL line with my roomie for free for a while now so we figure the cost of the extra electricity evens things out. I ran dfold for a full day on one of the PC's on Saturday. Wanted to see how it did. It definitely runs a bit cooler than f@h, like maybe a couple of Celsius degrees.
