Give it a few more days and it won't take quite that long. Just don't get your hopes up too much, my new surprise will be done before then

Heh, trust me, I wasn't expecting you to stand still! - So, any hints on the surprise? I'm just happy to finally get my PCs back on-line and getting my daily rate back up to respectable levels......hoping to improve things when I get a mobo that actually recognises my thoroughbred chip and allows me to run it at it's correct multiplier. (and when my RMA'd HD and ram get back)

553 days now
Hmm, hints.
How about this.
It's in 3 parts.
Part 1 is done, I'll take pics when I get home sunday night.
I have no time frame on the other two parts, other then one of those parts is two parts, spread over 6 months.

Odd, I have quite a bit of unexplained production.
I've got part 1 almost done, just waiting on a new mobo. I'll get pictures.
Part 2 section 1 should be done in about 2 weeks. Section 2 will be done about 6 months later
Part 3 is in progress, but has hit some snags.

No, it's unexplained to me too. I should have less, as my work desktop has been off since wednesday of last week, and dead this week. I really don't have anything that can produce that much, unless I forgot to switch some machine to DF... I guess I should check the farm. At least I'll have a VPN to it soon, so I'll be able to do a lot of my work remotely

I posted the pic for phase one in the rollcall with pictures thread.
BTW, I should be getting a "new" work desktop soon. It'll be either a p3 667, a p3 1000, or an xp 2500.
The two work machines are what I still run f@h on.

Yee Haw! You accent might be bad but you have a great sense of humor. Yep I saddled up my shetlan pony and rode off into the d-fold sunset and found myself over here at f@h before that pony bit me and threw me off. After I dusted myself off I noticed I was looking at the south end of that north bound stallion your running on. Looks like I am going to need to take a little trip to the stables and saddle me up a faster horse before I can lasso you.
I'm seeing a little more horse power than what I saw in those pictures that you posted. You must have a few hidden ponies.
How is your brother doing? Mr. Silent but deadly! Last time we got in a gun fight your gang shot me down. Still pulling lead out.
Y'all come back now! Especially you little lady.
Sorry to hear about all the trouble you are having over at d-fold.

Don't worry about that. It'll drop back down again in the next two days.

I'd say a combination of showing off and a taunt.
Showing off part: 655 points in the last 24 hrs. 696 the day before that.

Nice! Very Nice! I like it! Keep up the good work guess I will only be able to stay in the top ten with all you hard hitters around.
And I was feeling pretty good about not giving any more ground to Mikkyo and CobraMac.
Time for a Cray.

A very nice link courtesy of Maximum PC, sorry not very applicable to the Mac.

I am starting to switch all of my CPU's over to to Folding@Home. I feel like I am starting out too far behind to catch up, but here goes! It will take about a week for everything to get switched over, maybe more. I still do not understand the scoring on this new system at all. Do we have any helpful links to tuning / scoring / installing / monitoring the F@H client? Might be very useful to us rookies!

"We benchmark each unit such that a 400 MHZ Pentium III can finish a work unit worth 1.0 credits in 1 day. Shorter and longer units are credited appropriately."
Maybe I am just feeling fuzzy, but what the heck does that mean in the real world?
And what is a 400 Mhz Pentium III? Intel never made one...

I think this is a more up to date version:
How do you determine how many points a work unit is worth? Before putting out any new work unit, we benchmark it on a dedicated 500MHz Celeron machine (this machine does not have SSE/3DNow). We plug the results of this into the following formula:
points = 2 * multiplier * (daysPerWU)
where daysPerWU is -- no surprise -- the number of days it took to complete the unit.
