ok as seti takes about 12-16 hrs to do one block on my 800MHz i decided as the CLI is faster to go for that

so as my iBook wont download off down to the iMac it is t download it (it wont work from the team site) so anyway i have it on my iMac put it onto the iBook over airport and followed the nstrutions on the macaddict site
http://www.macaddict.com/setiex/setiathome.html

but it wont work

i type in the line:tar -xf setiathome-3.03.powerpc-apple-darwin1.2.tar

but it just said that the file did not exist

what can i do except throwing the computer accross the room?

should i change to a folding unit like F@H or Dfold

You need to be in the directory with the the archive of the client.
In Terminal try
tar -xzvf
yes with a space after the f, then drag your downloaded archive to the Terminal window and it will fill in the path so it looks something like this
tar -xzvf /Users/yourname/Desktop/setiathome-3.03.powerpc-apple-darwin1.2.tar

Then hit return.

gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: end of archive volume 1 reached

Stuffit understands the .tar format, double clicking on the file should work.
