I am considering switching to Fold from Seti (no more challenge for me there, plus the whole BOINC reset coming up). But I would like to use an equivalent to "Seti Menu" ie. manage one or two CLI clinets from the menu, or at least not having a Terminal window open all the time (real background task).

How can I do this?

Also any want to take a guess at how much score an iBook G3 900Mhz would get per day?

Thanks!

Check out the Folding CLI flags page and the crontab definitons page. With those, you can easily set folding@home up to run automatically on reboot in the background.

you could start it fah4 with "nohup" like this: "nohup ./fah4" assuming your currect directory is the directoty fah4 is located in.

then just close the window, and it will keep running in the background.

if you want to see its output you can either open the file nohup.out which will be in the folder u were in when u started nohup, or by opening ~/Library/Folding@home/FAHlog.txt

or you could just start it like the above poster suggested(with crontab).

i made a VERY simple F@H menu extra, that can only stop and start F@H, but thats all i need to be able to do.
if you got 2 clients running it will stop both, there is no way of telling it to only stop 1 of them, here is it:

F@H_Menu_Extra.menu.tgz (requires MenuCracker or Menu Extra Enabler, only tested with MenuCracker)

i forgot to say, my menu extra is only for controlling F@H once its running(pausing it and making it continue run, etc)

you have to start it using one of the methods above

OK thanks for all these workarounds.

Nothing close to what I was hoping though...
