Install instructions for all of our new members will probably help.
Here's some basic ones, and either I or someone else (hint hint) will post more detailed ones. Feel free to ask any questions.

To participate, simply install the client, located here. You have the choice of a graphical client, a screensaver, or the most efficient text client, which, when installed and run twice will use both CPUs.
Simply run the client, choose a username, and enter '16' as the team, without the quotes.
Then, watch your stats here.

Ok, guys. The race starts in 4 days, and barely anyone has joined. People who aren't already members of the team are not going to want to join a race with no participants. In order to make this a good recruiting tool, we need to have many more members join.

It doesn't hurt to join in. It shouldn't even take any of your time once the race starts. All you have to do is post your username in a signup thread and your work is done.

Let's get this thing moving!

each captain needs to make his or her own thread. OneMacGuy is the only one that I haven't seen a thread from.

Folks, this race will be quite boring if it's 5 - 10 people. Let's get more people signed up.

4 of the threads are made (you can easily find them by going to the main Team site and looking at the story I submitted. The threads are all linked to, there).

Reader will probably put up some spiffy graphs that show the progress of each team.

reader50 is indeed the captain of <s>The Misfits</s> The Exceptions.

Scott agreed to track the stats on this one, which means I'll end up taking them over after getting tired of the lame stats.

Work has been busy the last few days, this has even interfered with the Stats Sig <s>bribes</s> incentives for Exceptions.

In looking at our falling fah ranks lately I think it might be time for another race? I've been ramping up production lately (a few Xserves and extra eMacs) but we continue to fall. I think we need to get more people on Team MacNN folding.

It's funny because at work everyone knows I'm a folding addict. Someone will go on vacation for 2 weeks and I'll dedicate both their workstations to folding while they're gone. I run it on all my workstations as well as a few servers that I manage. At the computer tech shop where I work we'll be dealing with problem users getting locked out of the domain and we don't know if it's him or his computer, so we'll run folding on it for a few days to test the stability of the box...

I wish we could find more users with the dedication that us actives have!

At the moment I am sitting at work at California State University, Chico, and this place is overrrun with incoming freshmen. Wouldn't this be a good time to get another race between the college kids and the working crowd, etc?

I have a 1.47ghz processor just sitting around waiting for a folding machine to be built around it. Find me a socket A mobo, psu/case and a stick of ram 64mb+, I can add another machine to the effort. As it is, I'm not really willing to spend another $100 because, frankly, money is money and I ain't got any.

Zimmerman, have you given further thought to working out a rig donation/adoption system for Team MacNN? That would be a way to use your CPU without putting money in.

Speaking for myself, I can donate bandwidth, space, and electricity, but not serious cooling - so I could host in a couple more months. Also available is some PC100, some old baby-sized SCSI HDs, and a 10 GB ATA HD.

We really should continue in that thread if we're ready to do something there.

I just bought a case, mobo, and PSU for $20 (after the $90 mail in rebate) that I plan on throwing an XP 3000+ along with some RAM and a decent hard drive for a couple hundred bucks. I'm poor now so I have to wait on a few more of the parts... but it will be a nice little machine in a month or so I hope.

As for a rig trading/building system, it seems like a lot of work... You guys put out awsome work for the team and I don't know how you do it. I consider myself to be a busy young lad but I know you guys are as busy or busier than I and you guys still put 110%... I guess we'll just have to take it all in stride and see what we can all do on our own.

Well now that I'm done with the summer, I'll have some time to invest in the effort. I still have a rough rules built. I'll work on it this weekend and post it for purveyance.
